Twenty-one years on this stretch of coast
Blue Current started in 2005 as two tanks in the back of a pickup. Today we are a five-person team who still dive the house reef every morning before the shop opens.

Bari Reef 5–18m
More recorded fish species than any other site on the island, five minutes from the shop.
House reefHilma Hooker 30m
A 72-metre smuggler's cargo ship lying on her starboard side between two reefs.
Wreck1000 Steps 5–25m
Only sixty-seven steps, though you will count more with tanks on.
TurtlesSalt Pier 6–16m
Coral-wrapped pillars full of silversides. The best light on the island.

Questions we hear every week
Do I need to be certified?
Not for Discover Scuba — you can be in the water the same afternoon. Guided dives need Open Water or higher, and we would love to certify you if not.
Is the shore diving really that easy?
The west coast is protected, calm and shallow at the entry. You walk in from a marked yellow stone and the reef starts about twenty metres out.
What about gear?
Bring what you like, rent the rest. Regulators are serviced every season and a dive computer comes with every set at no extra cost.
Which languages do you teach in?
English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamentu. Tell us when booking and we match you with the right instructor.
Do I need a marine park tag?
Yes — every diver on Bonaire needs the STINAPA nature tag. We sort it at check-in; it takes five minutes and is valid for the calendar year.
When is my last dive before flying home?
Leave 18 hours between your final dive and your flight. We plan your last day around it — ask us about the north-coast drive instead.
